Install, check, and manage your website assistant.
Test your website first, then complete setup and launch from your HostDesk account. You do not need a sales call. Choose one installation method so the assistant is not loaded twice.
Before you install
- Create or sign in to your HostDesk account, review the customer agreement, and complete guided setup with your actual public website address.
- Review your imported knowledge and correct any missing or inaccurate business details. Keep the contact destination for unanswered questions up to date.
- Choose your plan in Billing. The free checker and demo do not start a paid subscription; the checkout shows the trial and first-charge details.
- Open Preview & Launch, try representative questions, and complete the launch check before turning on the public assistant.
Install with the website snippet
Use this on WordPress or another builder that allows a custom script.
- In Preview & Launch, choose the appearance you want, then open Installation and copy the complete snippet.
- Paste it once into your website's site-wide footer or custom-code setting, before the closing
</body>tag. Do not paste your server API key into the website; use the generated public-widget snippet. - Save and publish the website. If your builder or caching plugin caches page HTML, clear that cache.
- Open the public website in a new browser tab, outside the editor. Complete Live status / Launch check in HostDesk and verify that the installation is detected.
- Open the assistant, ask a question your sources answer, then try the contact handoff. Check the saved conversation and contact request in your account.
Connect an installed WordPress Question Checker
If the checker plugin is already installed, it can load the same HostDesk assistant for you. The snippet above remains an alternative.
- Open Question Checker in WordPress admin and run Check my website. The checker works without a HostDesk account.
- Choose Connect HostDesk below the results. Create an account or sign in, and confirm the connection for this website. The assistant stays off during connection.
- In HostDesk, review the registered website, knowledge, contact destination and launch check. Finish the account and billing steps if prompted.
- Return to Question Checker and choose Enable website assistant. Open a published visitor page to check it; WordPress admin and editor previews do not load the widget.
Anonymous plugin analytics are optional and off by default. Enabling them is not required to check a website or use the assistant.
If something does not look right
The check cannot read my website
Open the address without signing in. Password protection, robots rules, a firewall or a temporary service problem can prevent a check. Read the displayed reason; a failed check is not a finding that your website has no answers. Wait before retrying if the service reports a rate limit.
A reported gap is already answered on my site
Compare the finding with the list of pages checked. The scanner may not have read that page or recognized the wording. In your HostDesk account, review the source or add an approved answer, then test again. The free check covers a sample of public pages.
The assistant is missing, blocked, or appears twice
Check that your registered website matches the public site, launch confirmation is complete, and the assistant is not paused. Confirm the snippet was published or the plugin assistant was enabled, then clear page caches. Use either the plugin embed or a manual snippet. Test outside your site editor; a content blocker or restrictive script policy can also prevent loading.
A visitor request was saved but I did not get an alert
Check the saved request and the delivery status in HostDesk, then verify the recipient address and your spam folder. A saved request and a delivered notification are different outcomes. Review any delivery exception before asking the visitor to submit again.
Answers have stopped or a booking action is unavailable
Check Billing for subscription and answer-allowance status, and Preview & Launch for source or launch issues. Optional actions also depend on a verified destination or healthy connected provider. Installing the assistant does not by itself enable native booking, payments, or external CRM delivery.
Manage or remove HostDesk
Use Live status in Preview & Launch to pause the assistant. Remove a manual snippet from your website, or disable the website assistant in Question Checker, to stop loading it on your pages.
Removing the snippet or WordPress plugin does not cancel a subscription or delete your HostDesk account. Manage the subscription separately in Billing and use the account's privacy controls for stored visitor data.
